Plastic strapping

Light, stable and versatile - our plain plastic strapping convinces with numerous advantages. You only need a small amount of packaging material to protect and stabilise your goods by strapping. The different kinds of plastic or thicknesses of the straps offer you a wide range of possible applications. For this reason, strapping is a popular packaging option in many different industries and companies. Choose a narrow strap to safely ship smaller cartons or packages. Powerful, strong straps are designed to hold even heavy goods and pallets together. On long transport routes, loads remain in the desired position, no matter which means of transport is used. Professional plastic strapping is also ideal for internal transport. Stacked brochures, textile rolls or folded cartons are ready for transport in just a few steps.

Plastic strapping: These are the advantages

Plastic is the preferred material for the production of reliable strapping straps. The more stable variants have a particularly high tear and tensile strength. It is worth checking whether a strong plastic strapping can replace a metal strap for certain loads, as plastic strapping has a number of advantages over steel strapping: They are lighter, cheaper and easy to process. Plastic is also more weather-resistant. It does not corrode when stored in the rain and does not heat up as much when being exposed to strong sunlight. For certain loads, strapping is a good alternative to stretching with the appropriate film. Compared to stretch film, you need considerably less material for strapping with plastic. This not only pays off when it comes to procurement, but also when it comes to disposal. The time required for the work processes is also noticeably lower.

Plastic strapping from Supra-Ratiopac: the most important materials

We use plastics for our strapping that have proven themselves for a long time: Polypropylene (PP) and polyester/polyethylene terephthalate (PET). The two materials have different properties. When purchasing, choose the plastic strap that is best suited to your needs. PP straps are more elastic than PET straps and are preferred for light to medium loads. They are the classic strapping for packages, cartons and newspaper stacks. An additional advantage: Polypropylene is one of the recyclable plastics that can be recycled and reused. PET straps, on the other hand, hardly stretch and are therefore suitable for long-term storage and long transport routes. They withstand high pressures and, with the right packaging technology, can reliably secure even large pallet stacks.

Proper packaging of goods - with plastic strapping

In addition to selecting the right strap, there are two other factors to consider when strapping with plastic. One is the right strapping technique. Strap one or more times, as necessary, to secure your goods properly. For long transports of large loads, strapping from all sides is necessary. The second factor is the right strapping equipment. This include a suitable strapping tool as well as the sealing technology. Manual tools are practical if you want to strap relatively few and mainly light goods. For regular use and heavy loads, semi-automatic or fully automatic strapping machines are recommended. They save time and reduce packaging errors. Depending on the material and load, plastic strapping can be closed with buckles, sleeves or clamps. Spot welding is another option.
